The Robbery

Silent feet on concrete floor
Shadows on the wall take life
The clock on the wall holds still
As the devil to the counter stroll
The wind circled down the alley
The sun shone through the glass
Was an ordinary day, just an ordinary day
The day that you came around

Eyes like stone, lips a line
Across your angled face
Shots ring out. Sound distorts.
Disoriented eyes grows dim
Cash strewn around as red rolls down
The line now right upturned
Just an ordinary day, an ordinary day
The day that you came around

You look at me. And I at you
As life slowly slips away
Looked for remorse, for a fleeting chance
But your face was content! So free!
Warmth of fire as the cold set in
Falling through a hole in the floor
Was an ordinary day, an ordinary day
The day that you took me down
